Custom Modular Homes
California + Oregon

You’ve found the perfect spot!

Maybe it’s to hunt or fish or ski or … just to get away. You want this space to be your new home away from home. You can imagine spending days, weeks, even months here, far from civilization, where you can clear your mind, refresh your spirit, reconnect with friends and family.

But being so far from it all, how will you overcome the obstacles of traditional home construction? Even if they let you, it’ll cost a fortune to run city services out here, not to mention employing a crew for the better part of a year to build a house. Is there a better way?

Introducing Adventure HomeTM

Custom Built Off the Grid Homes

Adventure Home creates unique off-the-grid modular homes designed from shipping containers to go anywhere in the world, so you can feel at home wherever your adventure takes you. Shipping containers are the structural base because they take the beating of a long journey on any mode of transport, then arrive at your site and can be assembled in about a week. General labor, grading, and concrete/rebar are the only components you need to pre-construct the foundation for your off the grid adventure home.
The Adventure HomeTM produces and stores its own electricity, will clean any water that fills the tank, and happily turn your waste into food for the land.

These Custom Portable Homes Provide:

Your Builder

Adam Jubela is the Founder of FreeForm Development and the creator of the Adventure HomeTM. After architecture grad school and years in traditional construction, he saw the advantages of shipping container modular construction and so began his first project:  Quartyard, a modular shipping container urban park and concert venue in downtown San Diego, which has gained numerous awards and much notoriety.

Due to his success providing turnkey solutions modifying shipping containers into unique prefabricated commercial buildings, he is now realizing a long-set passion for creating beautiful, custom, off-the-grid modular homes for the upscale adventurer.

As an architect and business owner I have worked with many many contractors and Adam at FreeForm stands out amongst them all. Adam is more than just a “generic” contractor and builder. He is a creative, problem solver, upfront about everything, doesn’t hit you with sneaky change orders, and understands from both the contractors side of things as well as the owners. Have worked with FreeForm many times and will continue to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are modular, prefab, shipping container homes better than traditional building?

95% of the construction of these off the grid homes is done offsite, which means no dealing with local authorities or contractors. All you do to prep onsite is grade, dig, and pour the concrete foundation. The prefab Adventure Home TM arrives ready to assemble.

How long will it take to build a modular, prefab, off the grid home??

These custom prefabricated homes take just 16 weeks to pre-fabricate + transport time and assembly. Remember, you prep the land in parallel to the off-site construction. Stick-built homes wait for the foundation to be set before beginning. You’ll be enjoying your Adventure HomeTM faster than if you went traditional.

How much does it cost to build a modular, prefab home?

These custom prebuilt homes are designed to be placed in the toughest remote or foreign location where it’s typically very expensive and difficult to ship and transport materials. Prices will adjust over time, but we are beginning with a target starting price of $550,000 plus the cost of transport and installation; a competitive alternative to stick-built construction in a foreign or remote location.

Where can these modular, prefab, off the grid homes be set up?

Anywhere with semi-trailer truck and crane access. Or if you are in a very remote location, a helicopter can fly in each unit, acting as the truck and crane.
